About

The Malaysia Uechiryū-Kosonken Kenkyūkai (馬来西亞上地流-虎尊拳研究会) is an independent body focusing in researching, studying and training of Okinawa Uechiryū karatedo and Chinese Southern Shaolin tiger style boxing. Our research connects the Uechiryū karatedo back to one of its original form, Southern Shaolin tiger style boxing. Tiger is one of the seven animals form in Uechiryū karatedo. The seven animals are dragon, tiger, crane, snake, cobra, leopard and mantis.

Our training mainly based on an old-style Okinawa Uechiryū karatedo and Chinese southern Shaolin tiger style boxing. Our Uechiryū components consist of old style Okinawa Uechiryū as well as other modern style Uechiryū. Training will focus on old style Uechiryū as all grading syllabus will be based upon the old style.

The Chinese southern Shaolin tiger style boxing is an important component in our research and training. The tiger style comprises direct, fast and powerful techniques similar to those in Uechiryū karatedo. The tiger style uses grappling, pressing, pulling, striking, twisting and tearing techniques upon contact with the adversary. We develop complementary kote kitae (body conditioning) techniques to strengthen the body and limbs while practicing for speed and accuracy.
