補助運動 (Hojo Undō: Drills in the technical fundamentals)

Prerequisite:

All defensive techniques in the series of drills described below are circulating blocks, with one exception: Flat-fist block, which must be given prior to conducting all attacking technical drills.

  1. 正面蹴り (Shōmen geri) - Frontal kicking exercise
  2. 足刀蹴り (Sokutō geri) - Foot-blade kicking exercise (45 angle or outer edge of foot kicking exercise
  3. 正拳突き (Seiken tsuki) - Fore-fist striking exercise
  4. 廻し突き (Mawashi tsuki) - Fore-fist-round striking exercise
  5. 《平拳受け》平拳突き ((Hiraken uke) Hiraken tsuki) - Flat-fist striking exercise
  6. 手刀打ち・裏拳打ち・小拳突き (Shutō uchi, Uraken uchi, Shōken tsuki) - Hand-blade striking, Back-fist striking, Phoenix-eye Striking exercise
  7. 肘突き (Hiji tsuki) - Elbow striking exercise (Straightforward-side-back)
  8. 転身前足蹴り (Tenshin zensoku geri) - 45-angle-turn fore-foot kicking exercise
  9. 転身後足蹴り (Tenshin kōsoku geri) - 45-angle-turn rear-foot kicking exercise
  10. 転身小拳突き (Tenshin shōken tsuki) - 45-angle-turn phoenix-eye striking exercise
  11. 弾き (Hajiki) - Finger-flipping exercise
  12. 鯉の尻尾打ち-縦打ち (Koi no shippo uchi-tate uchi) - Cyprinoid tail beating exercise (perpendicular beating)
  13. 鯉の尻尾打ち-横打ち (Koi no shippo uchi-yoko uchi) - Cyprinoid tail beating (side beating)
  14. 深呼吸 (Shinkokyū) - Deep breathing exercise
